Community Resource Services is a responsive, community-based organization whose mission is to diminish the effects of poverty in Avon and Avon Lake. We provide basic needs assistance and individualized resource and referral services in a compassionate and confidential manner.Community Resource Services (CRS) has been serving as the primary social services agency in Avon and Avon Lake since 1988. Our primary focus is to provide basic needs assistance and individualized resource and referral services to needy families. Basic needs assistance can include the provision of food from our on-site food pantry, and assistance with utility bills, medical and/or prescription costs, rent or auto repair. We also provide programs to help our clients move toward greater self-sufficiency, including our personal development programs that teach skills such as financial planning, health and nutrition, organizational development and career development. The Avon/Avon Lake community is the fastest growing community in Lorain County. As the population increases, so does the demand for social services. CRS is the only agency serving this community that provides such a wide range of services.

to the Empty Bowls by the Lake team who hosted a fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 13th to benefit CRS and the Second Harvest Food Bank. Bleser Park was filled with volunteers serving food from more than 20 area restaurants; hundreds of hand-painted bowls crafted by students and various community members; and attendees who enjoyed the live music, silent auction and all the delicious food. A total of $5,000 was raised to benefit both groups, and we are truly thankful for everyone who supported the event in one way or another. The ‘Empty Bowls Project’ is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger. Their mission is to create positive and lasting change through the arts, education, and projects that build community. |
