Addressing Growing Needs In Our Community
A significant portion of CRS funding comes from our own fundraising efforts, including the signature Charity Ball, held annually in January, and additional special events, such as The Hooks For Hunger Walleye Tournament; Homeruns for Hunger, sponsored by the Lake Erie Crushers; and annual food drives such as the SOUPer Bowl, sponsored by the school districts of Avon and Avon Lake. In addition, CRS has been successful in diversifying giving partners to permit financial stability. Food grants through Second Harvest Food Bank and Lorain County Community Action Agency have helped stock the food pantry. Partnerships have been formed with both local school districts, encompassing almost every grade level in both Avon Local and Avon Lake City Schools. Many local churches regularly support CRS financially and with in-kind donations.
