ON-GOING SERVICES
An On-site Emergency Food Pantry. The pantry is open daily to anyone in need of food.
Emergency Financial Assistance.
Clients are able to receive assistance with utilities, rent, auto repair, medical/prescription costs, school-related expenses and other basic needs once it has been established that they fall within our income qualification guidelines.
Information and Referral.
If it’s determined that the services necessary to best suit an individual client’s needs are outside of our own capabilities, CRS has a vast network of agencies and other support groups to use as sources of referral, including the Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB).
The OBB is an internet-based, counselor-assisted service designed to help moderate- and low-income individuals and families enhance their income. Using the OBB, individuals can determine their eligibility for receiving certain public benefits through a collaboration between a trained CRS staff member and a client or non-client community member. The service streamlines the application process for benefits such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Healthy Start/Healthy Families and provides a more comfortable situation in which to make that initial application….right here in the CRS office.
SEASONAL PROGRAMS
CRS sponsors a number of seasonal programs that are designed to help relieve the burden on families during times that often carry added stress. These programs include our Adopt-A-Family program in December, our Mother’s Day Women of Worth program, Thanksgiving and Easter food baskets, and our Back-to-School Backpack Program.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
These programs are designed to help our clients reach their full potential in financial literacy, career development, personal health and wellness, and organization/goal setting.
Our next scheduled program will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the CRS Office. Julia Bartram, a registered nurse and certified personal fitness trainer, will be presenting “Eating Well While Spending Less.” For more information, please call the CRS office.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Each year, on behalf of an anonymous donor, CRS administers a scholarship program for students from Avon and Avon Lake. Further information can be obtained through the guidance offices at the local public and private high schools.
