As residents of Avon and Avon Lake, we have so much for which to be thankful. A beautiful place to live, friendly neighbors and excellent schools are only a few in a long list of attributes that we enjoy.  However, we still have people in our community that need our help with basic needs, such as utilities, food, clothing and housing.

From an economic standpoint, optimism has improved since the lows of 2009.  However, unemployment benefits are beginning to run out for some and many people remain underemployed. Coupled with the rising costs of food and fuel, many of our client families are struggling with more complex needs than ever before. Because of this, Community Resource Services (CRS) would like your support of this year’s Annual Fund Campaign so we can assist our fellow community members in getting through these difficult times. 

Through August of 2011, CRS has provided assistance through a broad range of programs 4,261 times, (an increase of 8% over 2010). More specifically, this includes the following services for our families:

• Providing food assistance through our on-site food pantry 3,102 times, which includes the distribution of over 42,000 pounds of food;
• Pledging more than $7,000 toward utility bills to prevent disconnection;
• Sending 179 children back to school in August with backpacks filled with new school supplies, as well as new shoes, clothes and haircuts;

Providing almost $3,500 in rent assistance to prevent eviction.

We need your support in continuing these essential programs. Every dollar goes toward helping Avon and Avon Lake residents in need.  Your entire donation is tax deductible and makes a difference right here in our community. Thank you for your help and generosity.
